Description
Two PhD Research Fellowships in History of Ideas, within the field of Norwegian/Nordic intellectual history/history of ideas, are vacant in the Department of Philosophy, Classics, History of Arts and Ideas at the University of Oslo (UiO). The candidates will be affiliated with interdisciplinary research groups at the Faculty of the Humanities connected to the Nordic initiative at UiO. Applicants must present an independent project that lies within the areas of these research networks.
Preference may be given to applicants whose research projects are related to the following:
The project “History and Histories in Eighteenth Century Denmark-Norway”;
The research network “The protestant common culture of the Nordic countries (1520 – 1814)”;
The research networks “Raising the Nordic Model Citizen”/“Nordic Childhoods”.
The successful candidates must participate in the research training program organized by the Faculty of Humanities (cf. regulations and supplementary provisions for the faculty’s researcher education) and must engage in the designated research activities on a full-time basis. The persons who are appointed will be enrolled in the Faculty’s organized researcher training.
The academic study will terminate in a doctoral thesis which will be defended at the Faculty of Humanities, leading to a PhD-degree. The successful candidates are expected to join the existing research milieus or networks and contribute to their development. The posts are available for a period of three years starting late autumn 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter. Currently, PhD fellows who successfully submit their thesis within the three year period are granted an additional fellowship year.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the position, applicants must have:
A Master’s degree in History of Ideas/Intellectual History or in related disciplines which are relevant to the topic of the doctoral dissertation;
Personal suitability and motivation for the position.
In assessing the application, special emphasis will be placed on:
The project’s scientific and innovative merits;
The project’s relevance for the main research areas;
The applicant’s academic and personal qualifications to execute the project within the given time frame;
Good collaboration skills and the ability to contribute to interdisciplinary academic communities.
Fellowship
The position is remunerated by salary of the level 50 – 56 NOK 430,500 – 475,400, (approximately EUR 48,870 – 53,970) depending on qualifications. Moreover, research fellows will obtain attractive welfare benefits and pension arrangements in the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund. The successful candidates will be expected to have their residence and workplace in Oslo, and to be active members the academic community at the History of Ideas section.

Description
The Network for the Advancement of Social and Political Science (NASP) is a research-based training network that involves eight universities in Northern Italy: Brescia, Università Cattolica, Genova, Milano, Milano-Bicocca, Pavia, Piemonte Orientale and Torino. NASP is administratively based at the Department of Social and Political Sciences of the University of Milan (SPS).
NASP is accepting applications for admission to the Ph.D. Programmes in:
PhD in Economic Sociology and Labour Studies – ESLS PhD – 13 Scholarships;
PhD in Political Studies – POLS PhD- 10 Scholarships;

The mission of the programme is to give students both a strong disciplinary focus (in sociology, labour law, management and organizational behaviour, psychology of work) and a substantive attention to socio-economic behaviour and processes, in particular from the point of view of labour and organizations. POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP AT THE HENRY MOORE INSTITUTE

Open to: international post-doctoral researchers who are to focus their research on the pre-twentieth-century, paying particular attention to the ways in which history is engaged with in the present.

Description
The Henry Moore Institute is a world-recognised centre for the study of sculpture in the heart of Leeds, funded by The Henry Moore Foundation. An award-winning exhibitions venue, research centre, library and sculpture archive, the Institute hosts a year-round programme of exhibitions, conferences, lectures, research, and publications that aim to expand the understanding and scholarship of historical and contemporary sculpture. The Institute invites applications for a two-year fellowship, beginning in Autumn 2015. The fellowship has following specifications:
The Research Fellow will take responsibility for the research, organisation and realization of one workshop and one larger international conference at the Henry Moore Institute;
The Research Fellow will research, organize and realize one series of four public evening talks in relation to an exhibition of the researcher’s choice within the Institute’s program;
The Research Fellow will take an active role within the day-to-day activities of the Institute, assisting with the Research Team’s work with other Research Fellows and events;
The Research Fellow will take part in Henry Moore Institute events and major staff meetings, providing additional academic response and feedback to research and exhibition development;
The Research Fellow will deliver, as a representative of the Henry Moore Institute, at least two academic papers at conferences / universities / museums relating to the Fellow’s own research;
The Research Fellow will develop their own research by developing an exhibition / conference / publication proposal during the tenure, providing regular six-month updates to HMI staff at team meetings;
The Fellow will be expected to be based at the Henry Moore Institute, and to work with the Research Team for a minimum of two days per week.

The fellowship is opened to holders of the PhD. Based at the Henry Moore Institute in Leeds, the Post-doctoral Fellow’s research focus should be pre-twentieth-century, paying particular attention to the ways in which history is engaged with in the present.
Fellowship
The Post-doctoral Research Fellowship is funded by The Henry Moore Foundation’s Grants Programme. The successful Fellow will receive a grant of £21,000 per annum, for two years, payable quarterly. This grant is to cover living and all research associated expenses.

The International Research Center “Work and Human Lifecycle in Global History” at Humboldt University in Berlin invites applications for ten international research fellowships. Candidates from various disciplines including history, anthropology, law, sociology, political sciences, geography, economics, and area studies. I TATTI FELLOWSHIPS FOR INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS IN ITALY, 2015
Annually Villa I Tatti, The Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies offers I Tatti Fellowships for postdoctoral research in Italian Renaissance in Italy. Fifteen fellowships are available for Italian Renaissance scholars from all nations. Fellows are selected by an international and interdisciplinary committee that welcomes applications from Italian Renaissance scholars from all nations. The application deadline is October 15, 2015. Late applications will not be accepted.
Study Subject(s): The fellowship is awarded in any aspect of the Italian Renaissance.
Course Level: This fellowship is for pursuing postdoctoral research at Villa I Tatti, The Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies in Italy.

Eligibility:
-Fellows are selected by an international and interdisciplinary committee that welcomes applications from Italian Renaissance scholars from all nations. The committee aims to assess the ability of candidates to contribute in a collegial way to the intellectual life of the Harvard Center. It pays special attention to the candidate’s curriculum vitae, the strength of the proposed project, and its potential to yield original results.
-At the time of application, scholars must hold a PhD, dottorato di ricerca, or an equivalent degree. They must be conversant in either English or Italian and able to understand both languages. They should be in the early stages of their career, having received a PhD between 2005-2014 and have a solid background in Italian Renaissance studies. (NB: The PhD certificate must bear a date between January 1, 2005 and December 31, 2014, inclusive.)
-The Fellow is responsible to obtain a visa, permesso di soggiorno, and health coverage (and, if appropriate, for accompanying family members). The Fellow must determine if a visa is required and, if necessary, obtain one before travel.
-Renewals or repeats of an I Tatti Fellowship are not granted. Scholars can apply to only one type of I Tatti Fellowship at a time.
Scholarship Open for International Students: International applicants are eligible for this postdoctoral research.
Scholarship Description: The project must represent advanced research in the Italian Renaissance, broadly defined as the period ranging from the 13th to the 17th centuries. Subjects covered include the architecture, history, literature, material culture, music, philosophy, religion, science, or visual arts of Italy. Scholars can also apply to work on the transmission and circulation of ideas, objects, and people during the Renaissance, into and beyond the Italian peninsula, or the historiography of the Italian Renaissance, including the rebirth of interest in the Renaissance in later periods. It must be possible for applicants to carry out most of their research in Florence with the resources available in the city and at I Tatti. Applicants should discuss how their project relates to their earlier work and note that preference is given to scholars embarking on a new project rather than polishing a dissertation. Special consideration may be given to candidates without regular access to research materials and facilities available in Italy.
Number of award(s): Fifteen I Tatti Fellowships, each for twelve months, are available annually for post-doctoral research in any aspect of the Italian Renaissance.
Duration of award(s): The Fellowship year runs from July 1 to June 30. Starting September 1, Fellows are expected to spend at least three days a week at the Villa and are required to live in Florence or the surrounding area. They may not take on any other obligations such as teaching positions, even part-time ones, during any part of their Fellowship year.
What does it cover? Fellows are offered a study, use of the Biblioteca Berenson, lunches on weekdays, and various other privileges. The maximum stipend is $50,000, plus a supplement towards relocation expenses. There are several apartments on I Tatti property, rent free, but with charges for utilities. A housing subsidy is made available for Fellows who cannot be accommodated within the I Tatti Estate. If the candidate receives partial salary or outside grants, this must be explained on the application or in subsequent correspondence with the Director.

How to Apply: Applications for the I Tatti Fellowship are accepted exclusively online. These applications can be written in English or Italian and must be submitted electronically by midnight. Applicants must have two scholars who know their work well submit recommendations online by October 22, 2015. These recommendations can be written in English or Italian. When applicants enter the online application system, they will be asked to provide the names of their referees. After the applicant registers the referees and submits a completed application, the referees will receive an email explaining how to access the system and submit their letters electronically. It is the applicants’ responsibility to inform the scholars writing on their behalf of the nature of the project and the deadline.

HEINRICH BOLL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS FOR GERMAN AND INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS, 2015
Applications are open for Heinrich Boll Foundation scholarships available for German and international students. The foundation grant scholarships to approximately 1,000 for pursuing undergraduate, graduate & doctoral programme in all subjects offered at universities of applied sciences or universities of the arts in Germany. There are two types of scholarships i.e. student scholarship and doctoral scholarship which is offered for those students who gained their university entrance qualification in Germany to study in Germany or EU country and for those students who gained their university entrance qualification outside of Germany to pursue studies in Germany.
Study Subject(s): Scholarships are awarded in all subjects offered at universities of applied sciences or universities of the arts in Germany.

1). General student scholarships for German and German-educated applicants (Bildungsinländer/innen (1)): Students in all subjects who are pursuing a First degree (Bachelor, Staatsexamen, Diplom) and who earned their university entrance qualification (2) in Germany:
-You may apply before beginning your first degree (Bachelor, Staatsexamen, Diplom) or at any time up to the end of your third “Fachsemester”. Masters students cannot apply, because we aim to support students over the longer term. However, Bachelors students who have been awarded support may receive further support for a Masters course.
-Special (but not exclusive) target groups are: first-generation students, women, members of ethnic minorities, applicants from universities of applied science (Fachhochschulen).
-scholarship programme also focuses (but not exclusively) on certain subjects: especially the STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), particularly with a focus on environmental science (e.g. environmental protection, renewable energies, climate, etc.); economic and legal studies; journalism; and art studies.
-Germans and Bildungsinländer/innen (1) may receive funding for a complete Bachelors programme outside Germany but within the EU. In this case, the application must include a detailed justification of the proposed location and subject.
2). Student scholarship – journalism: “Medienvielfalt, anders: Junge Migrantinnen und Migranten in den Journalismus” (for German nationals and Bildungsinländer/innen):
-This programme is aimed at German or German-educated students with a migration background who wish to become journalists. Funding is not limited to students following journalism studies programmes.
-You may apply before beginning your study programme or at any time up to the end of your third “Fachsemester”. The conditions outlined in A.1. apply
Applicants for a doctoral scholarship: Please note that an application for the autumn application process is possible, if you are a German or German-educated doctoral student.
1). Doctoral students in all subjects who earned their university entrance qualification in Germany (Germans nationals and Bildungsinländer/innen (1)):
-At the time of application, the applicant must have been accepted as a doctoral student by a state-recognised institution of higher education in Germany or another EU country.
-Preference will be given to dissertation projects related to the working areas of the Heinrich Böll Foundation

Scholarship Open for International Students: Students of all nationalities can apply for these Heinrich Boll Foundation Scholarships.
Scholarship Description: The Heinrich Böll Foundation grants scholarships to approximately 1,000 undergraduates, graduates, and doctoral students of all subjects and nationalities per year, who are pursuing their degree at universities, universities of applied sciences (‘Fachhochschulen’), or universities of the arts (‘Kunsthochschulen’). They expect scholarship recipients to have excellent academic records, to be socially and politically engaged, and to have an active interest in the basic values of the foundation: ecology and sustainability, democracy and human rights, self determination and justice.

LEO BAECK FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM FOR INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS, 2016-2017
Federal Ministry of Education and Research – Academic Foundation – Leo Baeck Institute London is inviting applications for Fellowship Program available for international applicants. The program will appeal to doctoral students who carry out their research in several countries. It is open to students from all nationalities and of all universities worldwide. Fellows receive a stipend of 1,150 EUR per month. For this purpose usually comes a monthly research fee of 100 EUR. For research and conference trips abroad monthly allowances and travel allowances may be applied for in addition. Tuition fees are not covered. The application deadline is February 1, 2016.

The program will appeal to doctoral students who carry out their research in several countries. It is open to students from all nationalities and of all universities worldwide.

The French School of the Far East (EFEO) is awarding EFEO Field research scholarships for a period of 1 to 6 months at EFEO or ECAF Centre in Asia. LABORATORIUM ОБЪЯВЛЯЕТ НОВЫЙ КОНКУРС ДЛЯ МОЛОДЫХ АВТОРОВ
«Laboratorium. Журнал социальных исследований» приглашает к участию в конкурсе исследовательских статей молодых авторов (аспирантов и кандидатов наук, защитившихся не более 5-ти лет назад), специализирующихся в области социальных наук: социологии, антропологии, этнографии, социальной истории и смежных дисциплин.
К участию в конкурсе принимаются тексты на русском или английском языках, не публиковавшиеся ранее и не находящиеся на рассмотрении в других журналах, основанные на оригинальных результатах эмпирических исследований с использованием качественных методов. К рассмотрению принимаются тексты, написанные в формате академической статьи.
Задачами конкурса являются привлечение молодых талантливых авторов, распространение результатов недавних исследований, продвижение новаторских способов анализа социальных процессов, поиск новых предметов применения качественной методологии.
Жюри конкурса, состоящее из членов редакционной коллегии и редакционного совета журнала, будет руководствоваться следующими критериями при отборе победителей:
Оригинальность эмпирического материала;
Теоретическая, методологическая и эмпирическая обоснованность анализа;
Качество и глубина анализа;
Вклад исследования в существующую научную дискуссию;
Эвристичность выводов исследования;
Структура, логика и стиль изложения текста.
Ориентировочный объем - до 60 000 знаков, не считая сносок и списка литературы.
Лучшие статьи, будут опубликованы в ближайших выпусках журнала с соблюдением всех правил двойного анонимного рецензирования.
Победителей конкурса ожидает материальное вознаграждение.
