The International Studies Group (ISG) at the University of the Free State, Bloemfontein, South Africa, has vacancies for post-doctoral research fellows and PhD students starting in February 2016. The stipend for post-doctoral fellows is ZAR 225,000 per annum, and ZAR 180,000 per annum for PhD students. The postdoctoral fellowships are for one year in the first instance, with the possibility of extension for a further two years contingent on performance review. The PhD studentships are for three years, subject to satisfactory progress. Headed by Professor Ian Phimister, the ISG comprises established senior posts, contract positions, post-doctoral fellows and PhD students. The group specialises in Central and Southern African history, but applications are also encouraged from candidates with research interests that engage with broader themes in imperial and global history.

German Research Foundation (DFG) and the University of Potsdam are offering up to 6 Doctoral Fellowships. Scholarship Description: The Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Potsdam calls for applications for its DFG Research Training Group on “Wicked Problems, Contested Administrations: Knowledge, Coordination, Strategy” (WIPCAD). Wicked problems create conditions of high complexity, uncertainty, and ambiguity to which public organizations have to respond. The tensions emerging in this context can destabilize organizational structures and routines and call conventional methods of administration into question. Contestation occurs in various areas of organizational activity, from knowledge use and transfer to internal and external coordination and strategy building. The Research Training Group studies the interrelationships between wicked policy problems and the contested development of administrative practices and organizational structures, both within public organizations and concerning relations to civil society and the private sector.

What does it cover? MELLON POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW IN RUSSIAN LANGUAGE, LITERATURE, AND CULTURE
The Department of Russian Language, Literature, and Culture at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time non-continuing faculty position as a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in the College of Arts and Sciences. Appointment to this position will be for a term of two years beginning the fall semester of 2015 and will carry the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor of Russian. The position is supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and by a challenge grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
The incumbent will offer one course each semester. Teaching duties over two years will entail a mix of language courses at either the introductory or intermediate level and literature courses in translation or in Russian. Area of specialization is open, but we seek a creative scholar and teacher who has strong interdisciplinary interests and can work across different periods and genres. The ability to connect the Russian tradition with other literary and cultural traditions is a plus.
Among the qualifications required for appointment is the Ph.D. degree awarded no earlier than 2012 but in hand by July 1, 2015, and native or near-native Russian and English. Candidates must demonstrate interest and potential excellence in undergraduate teaching. Successful teaching experience at the college level is desirable. ONE YEAR POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP IN DIGITAL HUMANITIES.
The Institute for the Liberal Arts at Boston College invites applications for a one-
year post-doctoral fellowship in Digital Humanities. We welcome applications from
recent PhDs in any humanities fields who have expertise in digital approaches to
scholarship, especially data mining, mapping and GIS, and/or visualization. The DH
Fellow will teach one class per semester, will be available to consult with faculty on
the use of digital technologies in their research projects, and will organize
workshops for faculty and graduate students on DH topics.

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER ON IMMIGRANTS IN CHINA
The postdoctoral researcher on immigration in contemporary China will chiefly be responsible for the project Immigrants in China: reactions and debates. The researcher will also be involved in the project The social position of foreign residents in Beijing in cooperation with Peking University. The two projects are part of the research cooperation Immigration and the Transformation of Chinese Society under the Europe-China Collaborative Research Programme on Understanding Population Change.
We offer a fixed-term position from June 2015 through May 2016, with a possible extension of another one or two years until May 2017 or May 2018. The Center for Political Thought and Leadership (CPTL) at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for two post-doctoral fellowships in Political Thought, to begin in Fall 2015. “Political Thought” is defined broadly, with both period (ancient, medieval, modern) and specialization (e,g., political philosophy, constitutional theory, political economy) open. This is a full-time (1.0) benefits-eligible, fiscal year (July 1 – June 30) appointment. Renewal is possible on an annual basis contingent on satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the program. The successful candidate will be affiliated with the Center for Political Thought and Leadership, but will also have the opportunity to teach within ASU’s School of Historical, Philosophical, and Religious Studies (SHPRS) or other relevant units. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute a minimum of 10 hours per week to active participation in the activities of the CPTL and to contribute to its development, both at ASU and in its wider community setting.

Duration of award(s): Fellowships are awarded for periods of five or nine months. Applicants may request residencies for the following periods: 1 September 2016 to 31 January 2017 (5 months); 1 October 2016 to 30 June 2017 (9 months) or 1 February to 30 June 2017 (5 months).
What does it cover?
-The Paris IAS provides its fellows with a monthly remuneration (or complement of remuneration) and a total or partial coverage of their housing expenses. It also pays for their round-trip ticket to Paris.
-Status and remuneration: Fellows who maintain their status in their home institution benefit from a stipend. For others, the Paris IAS proposes a short term research contract with salary. In all cases, the remuneration depends on the fellow’s personal and professional situation and on whether he or she continues to receive pay from his/her home institution. The benchmark pay scale corresponds to prevailing standards in French academia.
-Housing: To facilitate housing for its guest researchers, the Paris IAS has formed partnerships with two residences that host international researchers: Maison Suger and Les Récollets. It covers the rent of the apartments in these residences. If a fellow chooses to live in a private apartment, the IAS can provide a housing stipend which amount varies on the basis of the family situation of the fellow.
-Travel: Travel costs from the fellow’s home to Paris and back are covered by the IAS (economy class).
-Insurances: The IAS’ fellows will need to get a personal insurance covering all risks during their stay, for themselves as well as the people accompanying them.
-Support for research: During their stay, the fellows will have an office at the Paris IAS (Hôtel de Lauzun) with a computer, Internet access, and printer. The IAS provides meeting and conference rooms. The fellows can receive financial support and materials for their work and research activities. This includes organising scientific events (colloquia, seminars, lectures, doctoral training, etc.) and research-related travel. Support for the translation and publication of their research texts can also be proposed. The Paris IAS and its partner institutions have signed agreements enabling the fellows to enjoy special access and lending privileges in the main Paris university-based research libraries. In addition, the fellows can have their books and documents delivered directly from the libraries to the institute.
Selection Criteria: The main criteria of selection are the same for white and thematic programs:
-the scientific quality of the project, its innovative character and its importance for the scientific community;
-the career path of the applicant;
-the quality of the scientific contacts of the applicants in France, and the applicant’s capacity to collaborate with French scholars and research teams.

Turkey Scholarships include both scholarship and university placement at the same time. Description
The Antall József Knowledge Centre (AJKC) was established in 2010 in cooperation with the Corvinus University of Budapest as an independent, non-governmental organisation, where one of our key aims is to support the intellectual development and research activities of students, researchers and young professionals, in line with the philosophy of József Antall, the first freely elected Prime Minister of Hungary. Moreover, our institution puts great emphasis on talent management. With the aim of establishing a new tradition of intercultural dialogue, AJKC is organising the third instalment of the international Antall József Summer School, which is to be held between 6 and 17 July 2015 at the Antall József Knowledge Centre.
Generally speaking, the Antall József Summer School focuses on the East-Central European region, paying particular attention to the Visegrad Cooperation. During the twelve-day event, participants can listen to and attend lectures and seminars in English, which put under scrutiny the economic, political, foreign and security policy, and cultural relations of the Visegrad Group, as well as discuss the significance of tourism and the problems of sustainable development.
Eligibility
There will be maximum of 50 participants, who are between the age of 18-35. Eligible for scholarships are students coming from the V4 countries, as well as for participants applying from the countries of the EU’s Eastern Partnership. Invited to apply are Master and PhD students and young professionals with a university degree in the field of political and social sciences.
Costs
The Knowledge Centre provides scholarships for participants applying from the V4 countries, CEI member states and EaP countries. Participation fee, costs of travel, accommodation and meals will be reimbursed. However, there is a registration fee of 80 Euros for all participants. The application is open to applicants from other countries as well, however, the travel costs are not covered for them.

TUNING ACADEMY SHORT-TERM RESEARCH VISIT SCHOLARSHIPS IN SPAIN, 2015
Deusto International Tuning Academy is offering short-term research visit scholarships for the academic year 2015-2016. Up to six scholarships for 1-month research visits are offered for those already pursuing research and interested in spending one month at DITA between October 2015 and June 2016. Study Subject(s): The research projects will focus on one of these topics:
-Analyzing and evaluating the impact produced by the Tuning projects at the level of particular higher education programmes/institutions/countries/regions;
-approaches to learning, teaching and assessment of generic competences – concrete examples of what is done within higher education degrees accompanied by enhancement proposals based on both theoretical and empirical data;
-staff development initiatives that facilitate implementation of competence-based approach – critical evaluation of their effectiveness and how well they meet the needs;
-curriculum reform and incorporation of Tuning approach in institutional and national policies.

Scholarship Description: The International Tuning Academy has been established with the aim of making the results of all Tuning and Tuning-related projects accessible to the academic community and stipulating research on Tuning-related topics. The present call is launched by the Deusto headquarters of the Tuning Academy: Deusto International Tuning Academy (DITA).
Number of award(s): There are six scholarships available.
Duration of award(s): Scholarships will be offered for 1-month research visits.
What does it cover?
-The Short-Term Visits Scholarships consist of health insurance for the 4 weeks, full or partial reimbursement of the travel costs for a return ticket (up to 500 euros), and free-of-charge accommodation. No additional money for travel or congress participation will be made available to visiting researchers.
-The health insurance is issued and paid for by the University of Deusto.
-The return ticket is purchased by the visiting researcher and is then reimbursed (if the total cost does not exceed 500 euros) or partly reimbursed (up to the sum of 500 euros) by DITA. Any changes the researcher needs to make after the ticket has been purchased are to be covered by the researcher.
-The cost of accommodation is transferred to the grantee upon his/her arrival to Bilbao and the grantee is then responsible for paying the accommodation fee to the accommodation provider directly.
-If the visiting researcher does not comply with the Study Visit Plan and requirements as stipulated in “Visiting Researcher Agreement” (to be signed upon arrival in Bilbao) the scholarship may be cancelled and the visiting researcher will be obliged to reimburse the cost of both monthly allowance and travel.
Selection Criteria: An international selection panel will evaluate the applications taking into consideration the following criteria:
-Quality of the research project proposed and its appropriateness in terms of DITA’s research priorities;
-Research record of the candidate;
-Potential for long-term collaboration.
-No certificate of English proficiency is required from candidates, but level of English domain will be taken into consideration because successful candidates must be able to produce academic publications in English and write the -Final Research Report in English.
-No reasons for decisions will be given.
