The 2015-2016 focal theme is “TIME.” Cornell University’s Society for the Humanities seeks interdisciplinary research projects that investigate the cultural, social, artistic, philosophical, and political implications of the theme.
Cornell’s Atkinson Center for a Sustainable Future co-sponsors one fellowship to support scholarly work on the theme as it relates to energy, the environment or economic development.
Six to eight Fellows will collaborate with the Director of the Society for the Humanities, Timothy Murray and Senior Scholars in Residence Cathy N. Davidson, Director, Futures Initiative, Graduate Center, City University of New York and CoFounder HASTAC, Tejumola Olaniyan, Louise Durham Mead Professor of English, University of Wisconsin, Madison, and Elizabeth A. Povinelli, Franz Boas Professor of Anthropology, Columbia University.

The American Academy offers residential fellowships to emerging as well as established scholars, writers, and professionals who wish to engage in independent study in Berlin. Around two dozen Berlin Prizes are conferred annually. Past Berlin Prize recipients have included historians, economists, poets, art historians, journalists, legal scholars, anthropologists, musicologists, public policy experts, and writers, among others. The Academy does not accept project proposals in mathematics and the hard sciences.
In addition to placing a high priority on the independent work of its fellows, the Academy is in a unique position to aid fellows in establishing professional and general networks both in Berlin and beyond. The Academy’s public outreach, which facilitates the introduction of a fellow's work to a wider audience, serves its mission of fostering transatlantic ties through cultural exchange.
Fellowships are typically awarded for an academic semester or, in some cases, for an entire academic year. Only the Bosch Fellowships in Public Policy may be for shorter stays of six to eight weeks. Fellowship benefits include round-trip airfare, housing at the Academy, partial board, and a stipend of $5,000 per month. The Academy’s furnished apartments at the Hans Arnhold Center are suitable for individuals and couples; accommodations are available for families with children at the Hans Arnhold Center or at nearby apartments. All fellows are expected to reside at the Hans Arnhold Center during the entire term of the award.
Fellowships are restricted to candidates based permanently in the US. US citizenship is not required, and American expatriates are not eligible. Candidates in academic disciplines are expected to have completed a doctorate at the time of application. Applicants working in most other fields – such as journalism, law, filmmaking, or public policy – must have equivalent professional degrees. Writers must have published at least one book at the time of application. Although it is helpful to explain how a Berlin residency would contribute to further professional development, candidates need not be working on German topics.
The selection processes for the  Inga Maren Otto Berlin Prize in Music Composition  and the  Guna S. Mundheim Berlin Prize in the Visual Arts  are based on nomination rather than application. A small number of invited candidates will be considered by two independent international juries.

Description
The  Leibniz-Institute of European History  (IEG) is offering research fellowships in history, theology and other historical subjects. These fellowships are awarded for PhD students to pursue their individual research projects up to 12 months and for a research stay in Mainz from January 2015 or later for at least 6 months. Applicants of any national background can apply for these fellowships. Applicants should not have pursued their PhD-work for more than three years when taking up the fellowship and should have a sufficient command of German so as to participate in discussions at the Institute.
The IEG awards research fellowships for international junior scientist in history, theology and other historical subjects.  The IEG promotes research on the historical foundations of Europe from the early modern period to contemporary history, particularly their religious, political and social dimensions.  Projects dealing with European communication and transfer processes as well as projects focusing on questions related to theology, church history and intellectual history are particularly welcome.
Eligibility
Applications are invited from doctoral candidates  from any country . They must have a sufficient command of German  to participate in discussions at the Institute and have a first degree in history, theology or another historical subject.  They should not have pursued their PhD-work for more than 3 years when taking up the fellowship. PhD-theses continue to be supervised and are completed under the auspices of the fellows’ home universities.
Scholarship
The monthly stipend is  EUR 1,200.

 Библиотека герцога Августа в Вольфенбюттеле ( The Herzog August Bibliothek , Германия), независимый исследовательский центр в Нижней Саксонии, предлагает пост-докторские стипендии гражданам Германии и иностранцам для реализации проектов с использованием фондов Библиотеки. Ежегодно присуждается около 50 стипендий. 

Стипендия продолжительностью от 2 до 12 месяцев составляет 1800 Евро (полная стипендия) или 1250 Евро (частичная стипендия). Условием получения стипендии является наличие у стипендиата возможности провести весь стипендиальный период в Вольфенбюттеле. 

Полная стипендия присуждается молодым специалистам, не имеющим постоянной работы либо тем специалистам, которые оформили неоплачиваемый отпуск для участия в программе Библиотеки. Для стипендиатов, имеющих постоянную работу и находящихся в оплачиваемом отпуске в течение стипендиального периода, предусмотрена частичная стипендия. Postdoctoral Fellowships
Postdoctoral fellowships are supported by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. One fellowship is awarded each year for two consecutive academic years to a postdoctoral fellow studying the history, theory, or criticism of the visual arts of any period or culture. The A. W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to reside in Washington. During the first year the fellow undertakes independent research and writing. The fellow also designs and directs an intensive weeklong seminar for the seven predoctoral fellows at CASVA, focusing on a topic related to the applicant's field of interest and with a special emphasis on methodological issues. In the second academic year, while continuing research and writing in residence, the A. W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow teaches one course (advanced undergraduate or graduate) by arrangement at a neighboring university.

The predoctoral dissertation fellowship program supports advanced graduate research in the history, theory, and criticism of art, architecture, urbanism, and photographic media. Each of the nine fellowships has specific requirements and intents, including support for the advancement and completion of a doctoral dissertation and for residency and travel during the period of dissertation research. Application for a predoctoral dissertation fellowship may be made only through nomination by the chair of a graduate department of art history or other appropriate department. Up to four fellowships are available to doctoral students who are studying art and architecture of the United States, including native and pre-Revolutionary America. They are intended for a period of four to six weeks of continuous travel abroad in areas outside the United States to sites of historical and cultural interest, including museums, exhibitions, collections, and monuments. The travel fellowship is intended to encourage a breadth of art-historical experience beyond the candidate's major field, not for the advancement of a dissertation. Preference is accorded to those who have had little opportunity for research travel abroad.

Российское кино с 1991 г. : Oтказ от советского наследия и продолжение традиций

Глубочайшие эстетические, политические и экономические изменения, произошедшие в советском кино в момент Перестройки, неоднократно служили объектом изучения как в России, так и в западных странах, по большей части в период, непросредственно последовавший за эпохой социально-экономических и политических потрясений. В ряде работ также исследовался процесс деконструкции советской системы, предшествовавший перестройке и касавший как кинопроизводства и цензуры, так и взаимоотношений между кинодеятелями и системой.
Сегодня российское постсоветское кино, насчитывающее уже более 20 лет, вновь является объектом изучения, и появление новых модальностей, пригодных для исследования российского постсоветского кинематографа, позволяет провести более глубокий и точный анализ, чем ранее.
Конференции предшествуют два события, сфокусированные на сходной теме: встреча между дистрибуторами российского кино во Франции и унивеситетскими преподавателями, имевшая место 5 мая сего года в Государственном Институте Истории Искусств и круглый стол с участием ройссиских продюсеров и кинорежиссеров, который пройдет 15 нября в рамках Недели Россйского Кино в Париже. Эта Неделя позволит зрителям увидеть последние фильмы, слишком редко пересекающие государственные границы, и познакомиться с их создателями.
Цель нашей конференции – объединить самых разных исследователей вокруг главных тем изучения современного российского кинематографа, чтобы подвести итоги его развития с 1991 г. в терминах отказа от традиций или их продолжения.
В рамках коференции, в целях более глубоко изучения поднятых проблем, мы хотели бы охватить все аспекты этого явления, как экономические и исторические, так и эстетические.
Заявки на участие могут касаться следующих областей:
1. Кинопроизводство и связанные с ним организации, с упором на следующую проблематику - экономические условия, резко изменившиеся после развала СССР, и их влияние на кинопроизводство, а также на эстетические и сценарные подходы; место продюсера, его связь с телевидением и его новая роль в меняющейся экономике и в ситуации частых реформ; проблемы и значение совместного производства; рост регионального производства и возникновение активно развивающихся киностудий в провинции (Новосибирск, Якутия, Екатеринбург, Казань, Ханты-Мансийск); место, занимаемое традиционными киностудиями (Мосфильм, Ленфильм); возможно также обсуждение взаимодействия кинодеятелей с творческими союзами (Союз Кинематографистов, Киносоюз).
2. Коммерческая эксплуатация и дистрибуция фильмов в новом расширенном контексте глобализации: новые системы кинопроката и взаимооотношения с кинотеатрами; смысл и последствия приватизации; прокат современной российской кинопродукции на территории России в свете появления мультиплексов; роль кинотеатров авторского кино; статус кинотеатров вчера и сегодня; картография кинотеатров; рынок ДВД и роль интернета.
3. Вопросы технологических инноваций: резкие технологические изменения, происшедшие за последние 20 лет, и что нового они внесли во взаимоотношения между деятелями кинематографии и государством; роль цифровых технологий.
4. Судьба кинематографистов, начавших свой творческий путь в советский период и вынужденных адаптироваться к новому контексту как в политической сфере, так и в сферах производства и кинодистрибуции;
5. Критика современного рссийского кино: продолжение советской традиции или новый подход к фильмам в современной критике.
6. Место кино в мировом контексте: роль фестивалей, доступность российского кино и его оборот в расширившемся мире.
7. Эстетика: эстетика авторского, коммерческого и жарнового кино.

Уважаемые коллеги!
4-6 декабря 2014 года в Твери состоится седьмая международная научная конференция из цикла «История сталинизма». Тема конференции 2014 года « Советское государство и общество в период позднего сталинизма.  1945–1953 гг .»
 
Седьмая конференция из цикла «История сталинизма» посвящена проблемам позднего сталинизма, особого этапа в истории советского государства и общества от победы в Великой Отечественной войне до смерти Сталина. Этот период был отмечен взаимодействием ряда противоречивых тенденций. Одни из них демонстрировали апогей сталинской системы. Другие – складывание предпосылок для ее трансформации в не сталинскую авторитарную модель советского социализма. К числу первых относились усиление личной власти Сталина; проведение масштабных идеологических и репрессивных кампаний; экспансия Гулага; консервативная социально-экономическая политика. К числу вторых – реформистские ожидания советского общества,  порожденные победой; кризисные явления в экономике, вызванные, прежде всего, стагнацией сельского хозяйства и социальной сферы; дестабилизация Гулага.
 
Предполагается обсуждение следующих аспектов заявленной темы:
 
Политические структуры и кампании позднего сталинизма
*  Эволюция партийно-государственного аппарата, номенклатура, центр и регионы в послевоенный период.
*  Идеологические кампании: причины и формы организации.
 
Репрессии и Гулаг
*  Особенности послевоенной карательной политики.
*  Противоречия лагерной системы. Экономика, режим, волнения заключенных и ссыльных.
 
 
Послевоенная социально-экономическая политика
*  Восстановление экономики и перспективы индустриализации.
*  Сельское хозяйство, кризис снабжения и социальной сферы.

*  Основные направления культурной политики. Формы и методы цензуры.
*  Идеологизация науки и ее последствия. 
 
Повседневность послевоенного поколения
·         Условия жизни и массовые настроения.
·         Советские и традиционные ценности.
·         Советские конфессии после примирения 1943 г.
 
К участию в конференции приглашаются специалисты, которые исследуют намеченные вопросы в рамках советской истории, истории других стран, а также в сравнительной перспективе.

21–23 мая 2015 г. в Софии пройдет Международная конференция  «Литературоведческая русистика: самосознание, геокультурная вариабельность, границы профессии» .
1. Репертуар литературоведа, как и репертуар писателя, обусловлен его габитусом: его уникальным местом в поле производства, которое является индивидуальным преломлением и итогом развития поля до данного момента. 
Для нас интуитивно очевидно также, что выбор тем, писателей, произведений, подходов обусловлен также и геокультурно, и экзистенциально. 
Исходя из данностей литературоведческой русистики, мы хотим предложить для обсуждения вопросы: можно ли говорить о корреляции социального габитуса и географического местожительства (а почему бы не и «месторазвития»)? а также габитуса и (не)приверженности к экзистенциальному императиву «единства жизни и творчества»? 
Наконец, как сказывается на объеме, содержании и границах литературоведческой профессии параллельное действие геокультурной обусловленности, экзистенциального самосознания и современной экономизации знания?
>2. Внимание к геокультурной обусловленности литературоведческого труда связано с нашей озабоченностью литературоведческой саморефлексией. 
>Простейшая форма геокультурного самосознания литературоведа – обратить внимание на местного (регионального, национального) писателя, пытаясь отнести его к какому-нибудь канонизированному корпусу авторов; или обратить внимание на локальные темы и топосы/локусы и без того рассматриваемых писателей и произведений. Нам хотелось бы, однако, оттолкнуться от этих форм геокультурного буквализма. 
>Стремление понять нашу собственную позицию имеет одним из своих предварительных итогов апелляцию к понятию «малозначимого другого». Как выглядят русский литературоцентризм, императив единства жизни и творчества, профессия литературоведа и специализация русиста, с точки зрения, например, «малозначимого другого» (полупериферия, ближнее зарубежье, эмиграция)? Как они оттуда (отсюда) переживаются? 
>Можно высказать сомнения, приложима ли категория геокультурной обусловленности к собственно российской русистике (и литературоведению): государственная политика (в т.ч. практика послевузовского «распределения») косвенно поощряла самосознание своего рода номадическое, а также обостряла самосознание историческое и персонологическое (чувство персональной лояльности к учителю, волею случая оказавшемуся в том или в ином месте, где он положил начало преемственности или даже школы). Но нам кажется, что такого рода «номадизм» и «самосознание номада» могут быть подвергнуты геокультурологической концептуализации. 
>Вопрос о геокультурной обусловленности литературоведческой русистики отсылает, конечно, к вопросу об обусловленности социально-гуманитарного знания.
>3. Простейшая, как нам кажется, форма экзистенциального самосознания – задать себе вопрос о (не)обусловленности и (не)минуемости собственных позиции и пути. Такие выражения, как «судьба/ путь поэта», вряд ли только окаменевшая формула, причем за ними может скрываться представление или догадка исследователя о самом себе. 
>Вопрос об императиве единства жизни и творчества можно решать, конечно, в ключе модернизации: профессиональная реализация в эпоху модерности освобождает от бремени этого императива (например, производитель вполне «современной» и «конвертируемой» «на Западе» науки может спокойно выступать сторонником «феодальной» организации науки как института, по крайней мере, у себя «на родине»). 
>Императив единства жизни и творчества или экзистенциальной цельности выводим из христианской культуры личности; и, кроме того, его можно считать отличительной особенностью русской литературной культуры ХІХ–ХХ вв. Но насколько модель личности, социально и фикционально сотворяемой согласно указанному императиву, устойчива, и насколько литературоведение пропитано ею? И как она коррелирует с логикой поля литературы? 
>Заражается ли литературоведение (российское — поверх специализаций; и русистика — поверх государственных границ) этим императивом? 
>Различим ли указанный императив в литературных и интеллектуальных культурах (иностранных, инонациональных), для которых русская литературная и интеллектуальная культура ХІХ-ХХ вв. — значимый партнер? 
>Заражается ли им «медиа-центрическая редакция» классической русской культуры (культура современного аудио-визуального вос(пере)производства классических текстов и создавшей их/ порожденной ими образованности)? Заражается ли им «сильный сосед» литературы по полю искусства — кино? 
>Коррелирует ли с ним временная структура литературного поля, а именно то, что можно назвать «гибкостью» литературного поля? Как долго поле «желает»/ может/ готово оттягивать момент возвращения писателю «долгосрочного вклада»? (Отсылаем к идее Пьера Бурдье о двух типах «вкладов» деятелей культурного поля: расчитанных на скорую, обычно экономическую, возвращаемость или же на посмертное символическое признание.) В каком темпе оно готово превращать писателя-подвижника в писателя подвижника-и-триумфатора? (Отсылаем к идее Григория Фрейдина о том, что в российской культуре ХІХ века возник, а в ХХ веке процветал культ писателя-подвижника и даже писателя-мученика.) Меняется ли указанная «гибкость» поля в историческом времени? Оправданно ли сопряжение двух идей, к которым мы только что отослали? 
>Императив единства жизни и творчества — функция поля производства, константа христианской русской культуры или эффект гипертрофии одного культурного субполя?
>4. (В)ненаучная обусловленность научных выборов литературоведа может смещать и подменять смысл, границы и содержание литературоведческой профессии. Литературоведение, конститутивная окраина поля литературы поддерживает режим автономности, реагируя на давление поля политики, поля экономики, «сильного соседа» по полю культуры, месторазвития, императива экзистенциальной цельности. 
>Кем тогда является литературовед-русист: советником у трона? межкультурным посредником? лавочником? маклером? мелким чиновником? маргиналом вместо юродивого? 
>Положение «малозначимого другого» — эмигранта, а тем более эмигранта и уроженца недалекого зарубежья — дает возможность усвоить профессию посредника, иногда помимо своей профессии в строгом смысле слова: Бем, Бицилли, Якобсон, Тодоров, Кристева, Тиханов. Продавая (или «продавая») эвристическую экзотику или экзотическо-эвристическую «другость», значимую другость, имеет ли возможность посредник «продавать» (или продавать) ‘себя’ (‘свое’)? И где пролегает граница между позицией посредника и позицией принявшего «повестку дня» изучаемой/продаваемой культуры (вопрос не только к не-российским русистам)? 
>Стоит обсудить поворот, который примерно можно обозначить как «изменения в самосознании литературоведения под давлением соседей по полю науки (шире — культуры)», что дает возможность широко проследить: а) круг соседей (пусть хотя бы все виды cultural: media-, gender-, postcolonial-, confessional, etc. studies) и историю отношений с ними (переструктурирование под влиянием давления широко понимаемого литературоведения: вброс модных тем и терминов, доминирующие тенденции в рамках общего для «всех» «сверхполя»); б) институциональные практики вытеснения литературоведа/ его сопротивления; в) отношение к этому общества. 
>Смену статуса филологической профессии можно понимать и так: она подстраивается под другую профессию, под исходные интуиции или самоочевидные истины других «факультетов» (вроде таких, как: ‘мир есть общество’, ‘мир есть рынок’, и т.д.). Мы предлагаем обратить большее внимание не на семантические, а на прагматические аспекты названного поворота, или сдвига. Не на то, что литературовед перенимает понятия, идеи и методы, скажем, философии и социологии, а на то, что он соглашается быть менеджером, импресарио (нижнего ранга), администратором самого себя. Водворение проектной организации науки (причем и по «горизонтали» рыночного давления, и по «вертикали» государственного) сопоставимо с введением обязательной политграмоты. Новый административно-экономический «сверх-я» заменяет в професиональном самосознании литературоведа прежнего «сверх-я», носителя классово-партийной сознательности. Трансформация ли это или мимикрия? 
>Теряет ли литературоведение позицию конститутивной окраины литературного поля? Является ли изменение статуса литературоведения признаком того, что литературное поле переходит в режим иного типа автономности, чем «классическая», т.е. описанная Бурдье при анализе второй половины французского ХІХ века?
5. Смысл авторефлексии, конечно, в идеале автотерапевтический. Но она может иметь и эпистемологический смысл: в поддержании непростой раздвоенности нахождения себя и «внутри» и «вне», и в размышлении, и в действии.
6. Какой из уже «готовых» «языков» авторефлексии более уместен и своевременен для адаптирования литературоведением? Язык рефлективной социологии? Интеллигентской совести? Психоанализа? Христианской исповеди?
7. Мы приветствуем мотивированные возражения по любому из высказанных здесь суждений, а также приглашаем обсудить любые неучтенные нами повороты темы.

The Congress of the International Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies (ISECS) is the world's largest meeting of specialists on all aspects of the eighteenth century, and takes place every four years. Recent ISECS conferences have been held in Dublin (1999), Los Angeles (2003), Montpellier (2007) and Graz (2011). The 14 th  ISECS Congress will be organized in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, from 26 to 31 July 2015. It is organized by the Dutch-Belgian Society of Eighteenth-Century Studies (DBSECS - Werkgroep 18e Eeuw) and is hosted by the Erasmus University Rotterdam on Campus Woudestein. We can welcome more than one thousand participants.
The theme of the 14 th  ISECS Congress is  Opening Markets: Trade and Commerce in the 18 th  Century . The program will include theme-related keynote lectures and sessions, as well as panels and round tables on all topics related to the long eighteenth century (1670-1830). The conference will also facilitate poster presentations. We are looking forward to inspiring lectures, debates and presentations on the conference theme and on all issues regarding the Age of Enlightenment and Sensibility.

The ISECS 2015 Committee invites those interested to organize thematic meetings in the program of the Conference to submit proposals for panel sessions and round tables. The submission of proposals for panels will be open until September 1, 2014. Panel organizers are requested to complete the online form at   https://www.etouches.com/eselect/80715 . Organizers are asked to supply information about the theme of the proposed panel and the panel members along with an abstract of their contribution to the panel meeting. Panels have a duration of one and a half hours, and should consist of 3 to 4 speakers (depending on the amount of discussion time the panel organizer wants to provide). It is also possible to submit a panel suggestion without concrete panelists or partly filled with panelists. In the coming months, we will present a list with panels accepting proposals on our website. Open panels will also be promoted through our newsletter.

Instructions for Individual Paper Proposals
The submission of proposals for papers is open until January 12, 2015. Participants in the ISECS 2015 Congress can submit one proposal for an individual paper. Here, you can indicate which panel your paper could be part of. Paper proposals are reviewed by the scientific committee and by the panel organizers. Format & Presentation
Your topic could be described on a printed poster or by photographs, graphics and pieces of text that you attach to the presentation panel. Posters in both English and French are welcome. Presenters of a poster will be expected to be present on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 28-30 July, in order to explain their poster and to hand out any leaflets, or other information materials they have available for viewers of their poster. Each presenter can therefore only present one poster. Any organization that submits more than one application should indicate a priority to their submissions.
Conference participants interested in presenting a poster should complete the application form on   https://www.etouches.com/eselect/92827 . It is important that applicants describe how they intend to illustrate the project in the poster format. The poster has to be an experience in itself for the one who looks at it and should show awareness of the poster format. Special consideration will be given to ensure that a variety of topics and geographical/cultural range will be represented.
The deadline is January 12, 2015. After the deadline, applications will no longer be accepted.
A jury representing the ISECS Organizing Committee will review all submissions and at the Conference they will select the winner of the ISECS Poster Award 2015 based on the criteria below.
The topic of the poster should:
• Look interesting and/or inspiring; Look lively;
• Lend itself to a poster session; not be too abstract;
• Present new ideas;
• Be clearly explained;
• Not duplicate another poster, nor have the same presenter as another poster;

“Traditions, Transitions, Transfers”, September 6-10, 2015
Herder-Institute of Historical Research on East Central Europe and Philipps-Universität Marburg
The Conference on Baltic Studies in Europe (CBSE) generally aims to bring together representatives of academic communities who share the interest of exploring the Baltic region from multiple perspectives and fields of research, because the Baltic region provides a particular historical, political, linguistic, social, cultural and ideological contact zone where the meanings of identities, languages and relationships are (re-)negotiated.
Every second year in between the conferences of the Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies which take place in North-America, the Conferences on Baltic Studies in Europe (CBSE) invite scholars researching on Baltic topics to an European place in the Baltic States or where research on Baltic States is concentrated. The CBSE started in Scandinavia at the beginning of the 1970s and became a regular event in the 1980s. Since then, it unites several hundred scholars from different scientific fields who want to present and discuss their results of research with colleagues. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, scientists from the Baltic states have been able to participate. In 1995, the CBSE could, for the first time, take place in one of the Baltic states themselves (Riga, Latvia).
Why Marburg? Whereas the Herder-Institute’s work is generally focused on the history of the East Central European States, its archival collection focuses on the history of the Baltic, especially on Latvian and Estonian history. It contains the most important archival collections on the Baltic States outside themselves. The Department of History at Philipps-Universität Marburg addresses questions concerning problems of transition and transfer in a wider context, especially questions on security problems and foreign relations, while the Giessen Center for Eastern European Studies focuses on the transition of states as a whole.
Ten years after the entry to the European Union, we now want to discuss the challenges for societies which result from political and economic transitions and transfers, but which are rooted in traditions. Not only in the epochs of political changes, but also in all phases of political stability and hegemony, the people within the Baltic states experienced different crises which have become turning points for the political, societal, cultural, economical and environmental changes which challenged their societies to find new solutions.
With regard to one of the fields of interest listed below, we invite scholars from all disciplines and stages in their careers to send a  paper abstract  as well as a  panel  (including information on prospective presenters and papers) and we invite young scholars working on PhD projects from all disciplines to send a poster proposition (via  e-mail )

Brief Summary

The NEH Enduring Questions grant program supports faculty members in the preparation of a new course on a fundamental concern of human life as addressed by the humanities. This question-driven course would encourage undergraduates and teachers to join together in a deep and sustained program of reading in order to encounter influential ideas, works, and thinkers over the centuries.

In its last five annual competitions, the Enduring Questions program received an average of 194 applications per year. The program made an average of nineteen awards per year, for a funding ratio of 10 percent.

The number of applications to an NEH grant program can vary widely year to year, as can the success ratio.  Российский фонд фундаментальных исследований (РФФИ, Фонд) и Исследовательский совет Норвегии (ИСН) объявляют Конкурс инициативных научных проектов 2015 года. 

Код Конкурса – «Норв_а» 
Задача Конкурса – развитие международного сотрудничества в области фундаментальных научных исследований, финансовая поддержка инициативных научно-исследовательских проектов, осуществляемых совместно российскими и норвежскими учеными. 

На Конкурс могут быть представлены проекты фундаментальных научных исследований, согласованно выполняемые коллективами физических лиц из России и Норвегии, по следующим тематикам: 
исследования геологических и геофизических процессов в Баренцевом море, связанных с нефтяными и газовыми ресурсами;
исследования, направленные на разработку технологий безопасности при офшорной добыче и транспортировке нефти в Арктике, в том числе: SAR, EER и подготовленность к разливу нефти;
исследования, направленные на разработку технологий безопасности навигации и работ на море в Арктике в районах многолетнего льда, а также в районах с айсбергами и другими ледяными элементами.
Срок выполнения Проектов – 3 года. 

Коллективы физических лиц – российские участники и норвежские участники, согласовывают между собой содержание исследований и название Проекта, и подают Проекты на Конкурс, в срок указанный в п.1.2 объявления на сайте РФФИ (  http://www.rfbr.ru/rffi/ru/international_announcement/o_1914189 ): российские участники Конкурса в Фонд, норвежские – в ИСН. 

Название Проекта должно быть одинаковым в Заявках российских и норвежских участников Конкурса. 

В объявлении на сайте РФФИ определены условия (правила) подачи Проектов и оформления Заявок на участие в Конкурсе для российских участников. 

Фонд начинает прием Заявок на Конкурс 15 июля 2014 г. в порядке, установленном разделом 2 объявления на сайте РФФИ. 

Заявки на участие в Конкурсе оформляются в информационной системе Фонда – КИАС РФФИ, а затем подаются в Фонд в печатной форме. 
Заявки на Конкурс, оформленные в КИАС РФФИ, принимаются с 15 июля 2014 года до 17 часов 00 минут московского времени до 03 сентября 2014 года. 
Итоги Конкурса планируется подвести в декабре 2014 года. 
По итогам Конкурса Фонд выделяет грант на проведение работ по Проекту только в 2015 году. Решение о предоставлении гранта на следующие (2016, 2017) годы Фонд будет принимать по результатам экспертизы отчёта по Проекту, представленного в соответствии с требованиями раздела 4 объявления на сайте РФФИ. 
РФФИ предоставляет грант на выполнение Проекта только российским участникам. 

Условия использования гранта определяются «Перечнем допускаемых РФФИ расходов гранта, выделяемого победителям конкурса инициативных научных проектов». 
Проект может быть представлен на Конкурс физическим лицом или коллективом физических лиц численностью не более 10 человек. В состав коллектива физических лиц могут входить научные работники, аспиранты, студенты и работники сферы научного обслуживания. 

Членами коллектива могут быть граждане России и граждане других стран, имеющие вид на жительство в России, работающие в российской организации. Лица, имеющие вид на жительство в России, должны состоять на учете в налоговых органах и пенсионном Фонде России.

Andrew W. Mellon Post-Doctoral Fellowship, 2015-17

The Illinois Program for Research in the Humanities (IPRH) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks to hire an Andrew W. Mellon Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Humanities for a two-year appointment commencing Fall 2015.

The Fellow will spend the two-year term in residence at Illinois, conduct research on the proposed project, and teach two courses per year in the appropriate academic department. The Fellow will participate in activities related to his or her research at the IPRH, in the teaching department, and on the Illinois campus. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will also give a public lecture on his or her research.

The search is open to scholars in all humanities disciplines, but we seek applicants whose work falls into one of the following broad subject areas:

- Race and Diaspora Studies
- History of Science/Technology
- Empire and Colonial Studies
- Memory Studies

The fellowship carries a $45,000 annual stipend, a $2,000 research account, and a comprehensive benefits package. To be eligible, applicants should have received their Ph.D. in a humanities discipline between January 1, 2012 and no later than May 31, 2015. Scholars who cannot legitimately anticipate the conferral of their degrees by May 31, 2015, should not apply. Only untenured scholars who have not held the title of “assistant professor” are eligible. PhDs are the only terminal degree accepted.

MODERN WESTERN EUROPE.  The Department of History at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in modern western Europe from 1789-1989, including Britain but excluding Germany.  Field is open and we welcome national and transnational approaches. The candidate will participate in the undergraduate and graduate teaching mission of the Department.  Receipt of the Ph.D. is expected by the time of appointment.

PROFESSORSHIPS
Samuel H. Kress Professor
This one-year position was established by the National Gallery, with the support of the Samuel H. Kress Foundation, in 1965. In addition to pursuing independent research, the Kress Professor is the senior member of the Center and counsels predoctoral fellows.

Andrew W. Mellon Professor
This two-year position was established in 1994. The Mellon Professor is chosen to serve two consecutive academic years and is free to pursue independent research.

Edmond J. Safra Visiting Professor
The Edmond J. Safra Visiting Professorship was established in 2002 with support from the Edmond J. Safra Philanthropic Foundation. The Safra Professor serves for a term of up to six months, forging connections between the research of the Gallery's curatorial staff and that of visiting scholars at the Center. The Safra Professor may present seminars or curatorial lectures for graduate students and emerging scholars, including curators from other institutions, while pursuing independent research.
