Announcement follows
The Georg Eckert Institute Library is an unparalleled resource for international textbook research, as is demonstrated by the continuously high demand among researchers from Germany and abroad for the research facilities it provides. In order to fulfil its purpose, the Institute relies upon close and ongoing contact with scholars and educational practitioners from Germany and around the world. With this in mind, the Institute and its supporters have established a fellowship programme for the promotion of international academic exchange and the development of international textbook research, with a particular emphasis on comparative approaches. 

The fellowships are awarded in particular for 
+research motivated by the desire to promote understanding among nations through education. This research is aimed at identifying prejudices, distortions in perception, and stereotyped and adversarial images transmitted in education, as well as their origins, by means of analysing educational material 
+international educational and didactical research on the methods, content and objectives of teaching in the subject areas in which the Institute's library specialises; research in the field of the fundamental governmental, institutional and social frameworks in which this teaching takes place 
+academic research on issues of perception and reception in the fields of history, geography and social science
+studies on textbook development in the subjects represented at the Institute which aim at identifying new directions for the production of textbooks based on comparative international textbook research.

Applying for a fellowship

Applications for a fellowship to be taken up in a particular year should be submitted by 15 September of the preceding year.

Requirements:
+Candidates for a fellowship should hold a university degree, or have attained a comparable qualification in the field of education. We also welcome applications from people who are involved in the writing of textbooks or employed by textbook publishers, as well as those whose activities in the field of education are concerned with curricula and textbooks.
+The work to be undertaken during the fellowship must be conducive to the Institute's own work or projects in the field of international textbook research. Some fellowships are reserved for individuals who conduct projects affiliated with the Institute.
+The Institute may occasionally offer fellowships attached to a specific topic on a competitive basis.

Applications for a fellowship should include:

+name, address (fax, email)
+a short CV, containing details of the candidate's professional background and/or academic career to date, including information on his/her current position and language skills
+a list of publications, if any
+a one- to three-page outline of the proposed research topic, describing its aims and methodology
+a specific list of the primary and/or secondary literature which the candidate wishes to study at the Institute; this documents the importance of a research stay
desired dates and duration of stay at the Institute


Applications should be submitted by 15 September of each year for the following year.

Fellowship holders are expected to enter into discussion of their findings with the academic staff of the Institute. Where appropriate, they will also have the opportunity to initiate contact with any other institutions or specaialists who might support their research.

The period covered by the fellowship must be spent working at the Institute.

Fellowship holders are requested to submit a report detailing the work conducted after completion of their research. One free copy of any publications that may result from their research at the Institute must be sent to the Institute's library.

Amount and duration of the fellowship

Fellows receive a monthly stipend of 1,000 Euro. Fellowships are usually awarded for a period of one to one-and-a-half months, with a minimum duration of two weeks. The Georg Eckert Institute will not automatically reimburse travel expenses. Nevertheless, fellows may apply for a travel allowance, which may be granted, provided funds are available, in cases of demonstrable need. The allowance will cover up to 50% of the fellow's travel expenses, to a maximum of 500 Euro. Fellowship holders must ensure that they are covered by adequate health insurance for the duration of their stay.

Конкурс по программе Фулбрайт-Кеннан проходит в рамках конкурса Фулбрайта по программе для ученых и деятелей искусств. За небольшими исключениями, условия конкурса, требования к соискателям и документам аналогичны по обеим программам.
Общая  информация
Главная цель программы – укрепление культурно-академических связей между народами США и России, улучшение взаимопонимания между нашими странами. Программа полностью финансируется Государственным департаментом США.
Программа Фулбрайт-Кеннан ежегодно предоставляет гражданам России 5-6 грантов  ТОЛЬКО в категории Research (проведение исследований)  на выполнение научных проектов в строго определенном месте – Институте Кеннана в Международном центре им. В. Вильсона, г. Вашингтон, округ Колумбия. Гранты выдаются в области истории, права, экономики, политологии и международных отношений (более полный список приводится ниже). Приоритетными считаются проекты, посвященные таким важнейшим вопросам, как международная безопасность, региональное развитие или российско-американские отношения.

В качестве старейшей из программ Международного центра им. В. Вильсона, Институт Кеннана служит связующим звеном между миром идей и миром политики, предоставляя ученым и политическим деятелям возможность встреч для обсуждения в рамках исторического контекста политических, социальных и экономических вопросов, стоящих перед Россией и другими государствами, входившими в состав Советского Союза. Стоящий вне партий, Институт Кеннана считает своей задачей предоставление американскому обществу наиболее объективной информации о данном регионе. Институт организует семинары, «круглые столы», брифинги, конференции, где главная роль отводится выступлениям известных ученых и политиков из США, России и других стран - бывших республик Советского Союза, принимавших участие в формировании российско-американской политики. Благодаря своему расположению в г. Вашингтоне, Институт Кеннана дает приезжим ученым возможность доступа к библиотекам, архивам, исследовательским центрам, кадровым ресурсам, принадлежащим к числу лучших в мире.
Гранты выдаются в результате открытого, непредвзятого конкурса.
*  Продолжительность гранта - СТРОГО 6 месяцев.
*  Начало поездки: либо 1 сентября, либо 1 марта каждого года.
Гранты выдаются:
 • независимым ученым,
•  сотрудникам научно-исследовательских институтов,
• преподавателям вузов,
 
имеющим кандидатскую или докторскую степень по одной из дисциплин Института Кеннана.
Требования  к соискателям*
*  Российское гражданство и постоянное проживание на территории РФ, начиная с января 2013 года.
*  Наличие ученой степени по одной из дисциплин Института Кеннана.
*  Владение английским языком в пределах, необходимых для выполнения заявленного проекта.
*  Возраст соискателей не ограничен.
*  Хорошее физическое и умственное состояние.
*  Соискатели не должны работать в коммерческом секторе.
*  На конкурс принимаются только индивидуальные проекты.
*  Соискатели, постоянно проживающие на территории США, имеющие вид на жительство в США или подавшие заявку на его получение, а также имеющие двойное российско-американское гражданство, к конкурсу не допускаются.

The Princess Dashkova Russian Centre Visiting Fellowship, January-June 2015 

The Princess Dashkova Russian Centre invites applications for a Visiting Fellowship in the field of Russian 
sociocultural linguistics for January-June 2015 for a period from two to six months. 
The Centre established in 2010 aims to advance knowledge in the field of Russian language and society through 
research, training and knowledge exchange, locally, nationally and internationally. 
The Fellowship carries no stipend. The Fellow will be expected to be resident in Edinburgh throughout the 
tenure of the Fellowship and to play a full part in the activities of the Centre. In addition, he or she will be 
expected to give at least one research seminar during the tenure. 

The Fellow will be provided with a working space in the Princess Dashkova Centre, access to the University 
facilities and the Centre’s library and databases, including Intergum World Wide and Rubricon. The Centre is 
close to the University Library and within easy reach of the National Library of Scotland, the Central City 
Library, the National Galleries and Museums, the Library of the Society of Antiquaries in Scotland, and the 
National Archives of Scotland. Access to the extensive resources of all of these collections can be arranged 
for the Fellow as appropriate. 

Candidates for the Fellowship will hold a doctorate or equivalent professional qualification. Consideration will be 
given to the academic record and the publications of all applicants and their capacity to disseminate their views 
among the academic community. 

APPLICATION PROCEDURE 
An application should consist of 1) a completed application form; 2) two references; 3) a copy of any 
publication that is thought to be especially relevant to the research proposal. Only fully completed applications 
will be considered. 
The closing date for the receipt of applications for the second semester 2014-2015 is 1

September 2014. 
Successful candidates will be notified by email by the end of September 2014; please ensure that you supply a 
valid email address so that you can be contacted quickly after decisions are made.

FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT
The Congress of the International Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies (ISECS) is the world's largest Eighteenth-Century meeting, and takes place every four years. Recent ISECS congresses have been held in Dublin (1999), Los Angeles (2003), Montpellier (2007) and Graz (2011). The 2015 ISECS Congress will be organized in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, from 26 to 31 July 2015. The Congress is organized by the Organizing Committee of Dutch-Belgian Society of Eighteenth-Century Studies (DBSECS - Werkgroep 18e Eeuw) and is hosted by the Erasmus University Rotterdam on Campus Woudestein. We can welcome more than thousand participants.

The theme of the fourteenth ISECS Congress is Opening Markets. The Congress will include theme-related sessions as well as plenary sessions featuring invited speakers. Besides the theme-related sessions, panel sessions will be organized on all topics relevant and related to the long Eighteenth-Century. The Congress will be organized into parallel sessions and round tables with keynotes elaborating on the subtopics. The Congress will facilitate poster presentations. An International Committee made up of members of the Organizing Committee and scholars from scientific institutes and universities in the world coordinates the scientific program.

The Beauty of Letters: text, type and communication in the eighteenth century, second two-day conference of the Baskerville Society, 14-15 March 2015, Birmingham, UK. In his preface to Paradise Lost (1758), John Baskerville described himself as 'an admirer of the beauty of letters'. This conference takes his phrase as a starting point to explore the production, distribution, consumption and reception, not only of letters, but also words, texts and images during the long eighteenth century (c. 1688-1820). This conference will consider how writing, printing, performance and portrayal contributed to the creation of cultural identity and taste, assisted the spread of knowledge and contributed to political, economic, social and cultural change in Britain and the wider world. CALL FOR PAPERS

Much of Aristotelian scholarship focuses primarily on the Aristotelian corpus and his philosophical influences. The conference will not only take this approach into consideration, but also expand the scope of the Aristotelian spirit to all generations of the Western philosophical canon. The objective is to better understand the Aristotelian spirit as it has animated the different philosophers of different ages, all accentuating the salient themes of the peripatetic tradition.

This conference invites papers relating to any philosopher or philosophical tradition that has made a direct or a subtle connection with the Aristotelian philosophy or the peripatetic spirit in our tradition. Since the conference is bilingual, we invite papers in either French or English. Graduate students are also encouraged to submit an abstract. Abstracts should be no more than one page (double-spaced) and must include a contact email address or number, along with one’s affiliated university.

The symposium will take place at the Dominican University College, Ottawa. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Klaus Brinkmann (Boston University).

We invite submissions of high quality abstracts to a conference, to be hosted on November 18–20, 2014, by Universidad Nacional Andrés Bello (Santiago, Chile). We welcome abstracts in any area of the History of Modern Philosophy. Abstracts (written in Spanish or English) should be of about 1,500 words (excluding references), and should be prepared for blind refereeing.
 
In case of acceptance, a full paper should later be submitted for commentary at the Conference. Paper submissions are due on October 15, 2014.

Conference Theme 2014: Individual, Community and Society: Conflict, Resolution and Synergy

Conflict from earliest times has been a characteristic of the human condition. The struggle between our individual selves and our social selves arises from what makes us unique on the one hand, being challenged by our being part of an interdependent structure of relationships on the other. The specific blend of experiences, abilities, attitudes, and aspirations, that helps to define us, can sit sometimes uncomfortably alongside our commitments to those closest to us, our communities and our cultures.

This can lead to conflict at different levels. Conflict within communities and societies is inevitable given that these groups are based on commonality of geography, values, attitudes, and beliefs that help to differentiate one from another. The dialectic engendered by diversity, however, although it may lead to conflict, can play an important role in the expansion of ideas in communities and societies. One major challenge of modern society is to harness the synergy that emerges from the interactive dialectic generated by these differences.

The Arts and Humanities have long recognized these differences and frictions when they try to explain conflict through the systematic exploration of ideas, words, and artistic expression. By proposing such a wide-ranging 2014 conference theme, the organizers hope to encourage exciting new avenues of research, inspire the creation of new explanatory concepts, and provide a context for academic and personal encounters. The resultant exchanges it is hoped will stimulate synergies that cross national, religious, cultural and disciplinary divides. This is central to the global vision of IAFOR.

Комитет по науке и высшей школе проводит конкурсный отбор на предоставление в 2014 году субсидий общественным объединениям научных работников в целях развития их научно-просветительской, научно-исследовательской и педагогической деятельности. 

Субсидии предоставляются на безвозмездной и безвозвратной основе общественным объединениям научных работников, имеющим место нахождения в Санкт-Петербурге, в целях возмещения затрат, возникших в 2014 году, в связи с осуществлением ими научно-просветительской, научно-исследовательской и педагогической деятельности. 

Максимальная сумма субсидии, выделяемая общественному объединению научных работников, не превышает 200 тыс. руб. 

Субсидии предоставляются победителям конкурсного отбора на право получения субсидий общественными объединениями научных работников в целях развития их научно-просветительской, научно-исследовательской и педагогической деятельности. 

Условиями предоставления субсидий являются: 
осуществление претендентом на получение субсидий научно-просветительской, научно-исследовательской и педагогической деятельности на территории Санкт-Петербурга;
документальное подтверждение затрат, возмещаемых за счет субсидий;
отсутствие иных бюджетных ассигнований на возмещение затрат.
Для участия в конкурсном отборе претендент на получение субсидии подает заявку на участие в конкурсном отборе по форме, представленной в приложении 1 к извещению на сайте КНВШ. 

Срок подачи заявок: до 16 июля 2014 года (включительно).

Комитет по науке и высшей школе проводит конкурсный отбор на предоставление в 2014 году субсидий на подготовку и проведение конгрессов, конференций, форумов российского и мирового уровня. 

Субсидии предоставляются на безвозмездной и безвозвратной основе юридическим лицам (за исключением государственных (муниципальных) учреждений), осуществляющим научную и (или) научно-техническую деятельность на территории Санкт-Петербурга и имеющим место нахождения в Санкт-Петербурге, являющимся субъектами научной и (или) научно-технической деятельности и (или) социально-ориентированными некоммерческими организациями, осуществляющими деятельность в соответствии с пунктом 9 статьи 3 Закона Санкт-Петербурга от 23.03.2011 № 153-41 «О поддержке социально ориентированных некоммерческих организаций в Санкт-Петербурге»: деятельность в области образования, просвещения, науки, культуры, искусства, здравоохранения, профилактики и охраны здоровья граждан, пропаганды здорового образа жизни, улучшения морально-психологического состояния граждан, физической культуры и спорта и содействие указанной деятельности, а также содействие духовному развитию личности, содействие в профориентации и трудовой занятости подростков и молодежи, в целях возмещения затрат, возникших в 2014 году, в связи с подготовкой и проведением конгрессов, конференций, форумов российского и мирового уровня. 

Максимальный размер субсидии составляет 200 тыс. рублей. 

Субсидии предоставляются победителям конкурсного отбора на предоставление в 2014 году субсидий на подготовку и проведение конгрессов, конференций, форумов российского и мирового уровня. 

Условиями предоставления субсидий являются: 
соответствие конгресса, конференции или форума, подготовку и проведение которого осуществляет претендент на получение субсидий, основным целям и направлениям научно-технической политики Санкт-Петербурга;
проведение мероприятия на территории Санкт-Петербурга;
наличие у претендента на получение субсидий организационных и технических ресурсов, необходимых для подготовки и проведения мероприятия;
документальное подтверждение затрат, возмещаемых за счет субсидий;
отсутствие иных бюджетных ассигнований на возмещение затрат.
Для участия в конкурсном отборе претендент на получение субсидии подает заявку на участие в конкурсном отборе по форме, представленной в приложении 1 к извещению на сайте КНВШ.

Красноярский краевой фонд поддержки научной и научно-технической деятельности проводит Конкурс социальных и гуманитарных исследований, разработок и инноваций, направленных на повышение качества жизни населения Красноярского края. 

Цель Конкурса: поддержка социальных и гуманитарных прикладных исследований, содействие в организации научной и научно-технической деятельности, представляющей интерес для Красноярского края. 

Требования к организациям-заявителям: 
наличие права на ведение образовательной и (или) научной деятельности;
наличие государственной регистрации на территории Красноярского края;
Основные условия участия в Конкурсе: 
наличие соглашений о сотрудничестве в рамках реализации проекта с органами законодательной, либо исполнительной власти Красноярского края и (или) органами местного самоуправления Красноярского края, либо подведомственными им учреждениями;
согласование Технического задания, подаваемого в составе заявки на Конкурс, со стороны Организации-заказчика;
обязательное заключение договоров на создание (передачу) научной продукции с Организациями-заказчиками по итогам реализации проекта с целью применения результатов проекта в деятельности указанных организаций.

CRDF Global принимает заявки на участие в конкурсе проектов в области фундаментальных научных исследований 2014 г. Данный конкурс финансируется CRDF Global за счет средств, предоставленных Государственным департаментом США и Национальным научным фондом США (NSF). 

Основные задачи конкурса 
*  Поддержка качественных инновационных фундаментальных исследований, проводимых совместными коллективами американских и российских ученых в Уральском регионе РФ по тематике данного конкурса.
*  Содействие разнообразию в научном сообществе.
*  Создание устойчивых совместных научных связей между российскими и американскими учеными. Тематика конкурса 
Для реализации данных целей CRDF Global определил тематику конкурса с учетом национальных приоритетов США и России. В рамках данного конкурса будут приниматься заявки на проведение  фундаментальных научных исследований в следующих областях: 
*  Нанотехнологии.
*  Энергосберегающие и энергоэффективные технологии.
*  Рациональное природопользование. Гранты размером до $110,000 USD каждый будут присуждены совместным коллективам американских и российских ученых. Продолжительность гранта составляет до 2 лет с возможностью продления срока реализации проекта без дополнительного финансирования.

The Malevich Society is a not-for-profit organization based in New York dedicated to advancing knowledge about the Russian artist Kazimir Malevich and his work.
In the belief that Malevich was a pioneer of modern art who should be recognized for his key contributions to the history of Modernism, the Society awards grants to encourage research, writing, and other activities relating to his history and memory.
The Society welcomes applications from scholars of any nationality, and at various stages of their career. Graduate students are welcome to apply to the Society’s grants after completing at least one year of dissertation research. Proposed projects should increase the understanding of Malevich and his work, or augment historical, biographical, or artistic information about Malevich and/or his artistic legacy. The Association for Women in Slavic Studies (AWSS) is
pleased to announce a call for nominations for the Mary
Zirin Prize in recognition of an independent scholar in the
field of Slavic Studies. The award of $500 is named for
Mary Zirin, the founder of Women East-West.

Working as an independent scholar, Zirin produced and
encouraged fundamental works in Slavic/East European
Women's Studies and has been instrumental in the
development of the AWSS. The Prize aims to recognize the
achievements of independent scholars and to encourage
their continued scholarship and service in the fields of Slavic
or Central and Eastern European Women's Studies.

The Committee encourages the nomination of candidates at
all career stages. For the purpose of this award, an
independent scholar is defined as a scholar who is not employed
at an institution of higher learning, or an employee of a university
or college who is not eligible to compete for institutional support
for research (for example, those teaching under short-term
contracts or working in administrative posts). We welcome
nominations from CIS and Central and Eastern Europe.

The Zirin Prize Committee will accept nominations (including self-
nominations) until September 1, 2014. Nominations must include:
(1) a nomination letter of be no more than two-pages double-
spaced; (2) the nominee's current curriculum vitae; and (3) a
sample publication (e.g., article or book chapter). The nomination
letter must describe the scholar's contribution to the field, as well
as work in progress.

Германская служба академических обменов (DAAD) сообщает о приеме заявок для участия в совместной программе "Иммануил Кант" Министерства образования и науки РФ и DAAD, предусматривающей финансирование научно-исследовательских стипендий и научных стажировок в Германии (Immanuel-Kant-Forschungsstipendien und -aufenthalte) российским аспирантам и преподавателям. 

Стипендия дает возможность российским аспирантам и преподавателям гуманитарных, социальных, правовых и экономических дисциплин пройти стажировку в университетах и внеуниверситетских научных центрах Германии с целью проведения исследований в рамках разрабатываемой диссертации или иного научного проекта. Кроме того, стипендия направлена на укрепление и расширение контактов с немецкими коллегами. 

Прохождение стажировки при поддержке DAAD возможно в следующие сроки: 
с 01.10.2015 по 31.03.2016 (для целевой группы «А»); 
с 15.09.2015 по 15.12.2015 (для целевой группы «B») 
Целевые группы программы: 
«А»: Аспиранты очной формы обучения и молодые преподаватели гуманитарных, социальных, правовых и экономических дисциплин, которым на 01.10.2015 еще не исполнится 35 лет, имеющие диплом специалиста или магистра. 
Внимание! В качестве соискателей целевой группы «А» имеют право участвовать в конкурсе и кандидаты наук не старше 35 лет! 

«В»: Преподаватели гуманитарных, социальных, правовых и экономических дисциплин, которым на 15.09.2015 еще не исполнится 35 лет, имеющие ученую степень кандидата или доктора наук. 
Внимание! Соискатели должны быть аспирантами очной формы обучения или штатными сотрудниками одного из государственных вузов, подведомственных Министерству образования и науки РФ (МОН). Заявки от лиц, местом работы которых являются научно-исследовательские учреждения Российской Академии Наук, не принимаются. 
Размер стипендии, совместно финансируемой DAAD и Министерством образования и науки РФ, в зависимости от статуса стипендиата составляет от 1000,- до 2000,- евро в месяц. Часть стипендии, финансируемая из средств МОН РФ, переводится на счет российского вуза и выплачивается стипендиату через бухгалтерию. Часть стипендии, финансируемая DAAD, переводится на счет, открываемый стипендиатом после прибытия на место проведения стажировки. 

Заявка направляется по почте, курьерской службой доставки или подается соискателем в Московское представительство DAAD лично до 20 сентября 2014 г. включительно (по почтовому штемпелю).

 Call for Contributors to The Eighteenth-Century Bird in Literature (1660-1830) Edited Book. A great deal of scholarly effort has been made over the years to gather together, analyze, and anthologize eighteenth-century bird poetry, paintings, and other material cultures that describe and represent birds in this period. Very few publications, however, have attempted to bring together the wide range of different approaches that scholars have adopted. This new project, The Eighteenth-Century Bird in Literature (1660-1830), accordingly aims to further extend the discussion of the eighteenth-century bird and bring incisive, new critical approaches to the topic of birds and the representations of birds in eighteenth-century literature and cultural life. The editors are particularly interested in ways in which a deeper understanding of the bird in eighteenth-century cultural life shapes our twenty-first century notions of birds, our behaviors towards birds, and towards the environments that birds inhabit. Chapters may include (but are not limited to) engagement with additional perspectives on eighteenth-century birds.

For this special issue of Wi: Journal of Mobile Media, we are gathering contributions that address the idea of ‘mobile trash.’
The intention of this issue is to reconfigure the concepts of ‘mobile’ and ‘mobilities’ in relation to trash, by its various definitions and formations, from new materialism, feminism, media ecology, media archaeology, and queer frameworks.
We’re especially interested in short pieces (2500 words) and creative interventions that explore mobile trash as pollution, fumes, compost, satellites, e-waste, toxins, bodies, drones, viruses, hacks, landfill, etc. We welcome pieces that poetically engage the politics of trash and speak to its borders, transitions, movements, materialities, shifts, contagions, ecologies, permutations, mutations, and invisible transferences.
The online issue goes live January 2016 and will be accompanied by a print-on-demand issue.

The Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at the
University of Toronto invites applications for a tenure-stream
Assistant or Associate Professor appointment in 18th and early
19th century Russian Poetry and Historical Poetics, beginning
July 1, 2015.

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. at the time of
application. Native or near-native fluency in Russian and in
English is required. Candidates must have a record of excellent
scholarly achievement and promise, and evidence of excellence
in teaching. The successful candidate must show significant
achievement in research and publications in 18th and early
19th century Russian poetry and historical poetics, as well as
extensive experience designing and teaching Russian language,
literature, and culture courses for undergraduate and graduate
students. Candidates must have North American teaching
experience. The appointee will be expected to teach Russian
language, literature, and culture courses at all levels. A
documented interest in comparative, transnational, and
interdisciplinary research and curriculum development is
considered a strong asset.

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
